Salicylic Acid – Is an excellent for chemical exfoliant because it penetrates the skin. Not only does it help soften the skin, but it works to slough away layers of dead skin cells on the epidermis.
Lactic Acid – Lactic acid is an effective ingredient for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. It is particularly beneficial for treating acne, dry skin, and dull skin. However, you should not use a lactic acid product if you have skin irritation, such as redness, swelling, or open sores.
Things you need to know before trying the Triple Exfoliator
Since lactic acid causes exfoliation of the top layers of skin, you may want to consider discontinuing other exfoliating products (i.e., retinoids, scrubs) when you’re using a lactic acid product to avoid irritation. So, no products with Vitamin A like Acne Spot Treatment, Vitamin A Serum or Complex, or any of the Age Perfects. Also do not use the powders with this exfoliator or afterwards. You want to make sure there is no additional exfoliation for at least a week. In addition, the exfoliating effect of lactic acid can cause your skin to become more prone to sun damage. Thus, it is recommended to use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen like (Protect) daily for the first week after your peel.

Please read below information before using the Triple Exfoliator.
Lactic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) while Salicylic acid is a type of beta-hydroxy acid (BHA). Lactic acid and salicylic acid can be used together in your skincare routine. Lactic acid and salicylic acid are considered as a chemical exfoliant that will remove dead skin cells and improve skin texture.
Don’t Mix: AHA/BHA acids with retinol. We strongly caution those also using retinoids for acne or anti-aging as the combination with various acids may cause excessive skin sensitivity, irritation, and redness. In fact, AHA and BHA should not typically be used together with retinoids on the same day and your client should not use these 2-3 days before and after using the Triple Exfoliator. Many skincare companies have these in their products. You might think they are generally mild but mixed together it can magnify the results of each product.
Don’t Mix: Retinol with vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and AHA/BHA acids.
AHA and BHA acids are exfoliating, which can dry out skin and cause further irritation if your skincare routine already includes retinol.
As for benzoyl peroxide and retinol, they cancel each other out. “It is not recommended to use benzoyl peroxide and retinoids together as they can literally cancel each other out rendering them less effective.
Finally, because vitamin C protects skin from environmental aggressors and retinol repairs and rebuilds skin, they’re best used at opposite times of the day.
